Super-moon June 23

During a super-moon, the sun, Earth, and moon are aligned -- with the Earth in between. Gravitational forces
exerted on the Earth by the moon and sun are what cause our planet's ocean tides to rise and fall, which is most likely why alarmists believe there's a connection between super moons and calamity.

However, according to NASA, high-tide during a super-moon is just a couple of inches more than what it is during a normal moon.

Super moons, or perigee full moons, appear bigger than usual because they are so close to the Earth. There have been other super moons in 2013, but none of those happened during a full moon -- like there will be on June 23.

According to science news site Earth Sky, a full moon will not be as close to the Earth again until August 2014.

Super-moons can tend to get doomsdayers revved up.

Besides being a remarkable sight to behold, the massive moon also comes with the mythical stigma of causing  handful of natural disasters, including earthquakes and tsunamis, floods, typhoons, and cyclones.

And, this year's super-moon is quickly upon us. It will be shining its light next weekend on June 23. On that day, the moon will appear bigger and brighter, and be closer to Earth than it's been all year -- a total of 221,824 miles away, which is roughly 30,000 miles closer than when it's at its farthest.

Despite super-moon apocalypse scenarios running a muck, NASA scientists haven't found any direct correlation between natural disasters on Earth and the close proximity of the moon.

Happy Fathers Day to All Males Who Influence Children !

My grandfather always said that living is like licking honey off a thorn

10 Ways to Be a Better Dad

Today, more and more fathers like you are experiencing the satisfaction and reward of taking a more active role in the lives of their children.

Read and discover how 10 simple things you can begin to do immediately can have a dramatic impact on your parent-child relationship... and in your child's future, too.

1) RESPECT YOUR CHILDREN'S MOTHER

One of the best things a father can do for his children is to respect their mother. If you are married, keep your marriage strong and vital. If you're not married, it is still important to respect and support the mother of your children. A father and mother who respect each other, and let their children know it, provide a secure environment for them. When children see their parents respecting each other, they are more likely to feel that they are also accepted and respected.

2) SPEND TIME WITH YOUR CHILDREN

How a father spends his time tells his children what's important to him. If you always seem too busy for your children, they will feel neglected no matter what you say. Treasuring children often means sacrificing other things, but it is essential to spend time with your children. Kids grow up so quickly. Missed opportunities are lost forever.

3) LISTEN FIRST, TALK SECOND

All too often the only time a father speaks to his children is when they have done something wrong. That's why so many children cringe when their mother says, "Your father wants to talk with you." Take time and listen to your childs ideas and problems. Listening to them makes them helps them feel respected and understood. Begin listening and talking with your kids when they are young so that difficult subjects will be easier to handle as they get older.

4) DISCIPLINE WITH LOVE

All children need guidance and discipline, not as punishment, but to set reasonable limits. Remind your children of the consequences of their actions and provide meaningful rewards for desirable behavior. Fathers who discipline in a calm and fair manner show love for their children.

5) BE A ROLE MODEL

Fathers are role models to their kids, whether they realize it or not. A girls who spends time with a loving father grows up knowing she deserves to be treated with respect by boys, and what to look for in a husband. Fathers can teach sons what is important inlife by demonstrating honesty, humility, and responsibility.

6) BE A TEACHER

Too many fathers think teaching is something others do. But a father who teaches his children about right and wrong, and encourages them to do their best, will see his children make good choices. Involved fathers use everyday examples to help their children learn the basic lessons of life.

7) EAT TOGETHER AS A FAMILY

Sharing a meal together (breakfast, lunch, or dinner) can be an important part of healthy family life. In addition to providing some structure in a busy day, it gives kids the chance to talk about what they are doing and want to do. It is also a good time for fathers to listen and give advice. Most importantly, it is a time for families to be together each day.

8) READ TO YOUR CHILDREN

In a world where television often dominates the lives of children, it is important that fathers make the effort to read to their children. Children learn best by doing and reading, as well as seeing and hearing. Begin reading to your children when they are very young. When they are older, encourage them to read on their own. Instilling your children with a love for reading is one of the best ways to ensure they will have a lifetime of personal career growth.

9) SHOW AFFECTION

Children need the security that comes from knowing they are wanted, accepted, and loved by their family. Parents, especially fathers, need to feel both comfortable and willing to hug their children. Showing affection every day is the best way to let your children know that you love them.

10) REALIZE THAT A FATHER'S JOB IS NEVER DONE

Even after children are grown and ready to leave home, they will still look to their fathers for wisdom and advice. Whether it's continued schooling, a new job or a wedding, fathers continue to play an essential part in the lives of their children as they grow and, perhaps, marry and build their own families.

The older I get, the smarter my father seems to get.
The quality of a father can be seen in the goals, dreams and aspirations he sets not only for himself, but for his family.
When my father didn't have my hand....he had my bac
A Father dosen't tell you that he loves you.

No, I am not drunk
No one paid me

When God Created Fathers

When the good lord was creating Fathers, He started with a tall frame. And a female angel nearby said,"What kinda of father is that?If You're going to make children so close to the ground, why have You put fathers up so high?He won't be able to shoot marbles without kneeling, tuck a child in bed without bending over or even kiss a child without a lot of stooping."

And God smiled and said,"Yes but, if I make him child-sized, who would children have to look up to?"
My father may not be perfect, but he's doing what he does best, being my dad.

What Is A Dad?

A dad is someone who
wants to catch you before you fall
but instead picks you up,
brushes you off,
and lets you try again.

A dad is someone who
wants to keep you from making mistakes
but instead lets you find your own way,
even though his heart breaks in silence
when you get hurt.

A dad is someone who
holds you when you cry,
scolds you when you break the rules,
shines with pride when you succeed,
and has faith in you even when you fail..

You don’t have to deserve your Mother’s love. You have to deserve your Father’s.

As fathers, it is particularly important to understand that asking for help to do our job is OK. Making mistakes doing our job is OK. Neglecting our job as a father is not OK. As men, we have been taught that we are supposed to fix everything. Hence when we make these wrong decisions we are not very good at asking for help. We should. It’s OK to ask for help, especially when it comes to our children. We don’t have to figure everything out on our own; we should always be willing to ask for help. There’s no shame in that.

Attack of the Beavers ... the Dragons ...the HEAT

A fisherman in Belarus was bitten to death by a beaver, and all he was doing was trying to take its picture, Sky News reports. The man spotted the beaver while fishing with friends at Lake Shestakov, but as he approached to take a photograph, the beaver bit him on the thigh. The animal managed to sever an artery, and his friends couldn't stop the blood flow.

about 65 pounds and stand about a meter (three feet) high. Officials have responded to some calls by sending out crews to drive away the animals, often by spraying them with water from a fire-hose.

In 2003, dairy cattle breeders in Belarus told of a large beaver attacking a farm manager who tried to shoo it out of a barn. A female farmhand rushed to help him, but they both were bitten by the animal,

Earlier this week a video was posted on YouTube showing a recent beaver scare in the Tver region northwest of Moscow.
A rabid beaver bit a swimmer at the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area on Thursday afternoon.
The swimmer was bitten in the Delaware River, just south of the Eshback boat launch, National Park Service Superintendent John Donahue reported in a press release Friday. The beaver subsequently tested positive for rabies.

A rabid beaver that attacked a Boy Scout leader swimming in the Delaware River was killed after Scouts in the troop pelted it with rocks.

I thought it was a giant carp fish," he told the paper. After initially throwing the animal from his body, it returned to continue the attack, biting Brousseau in the leg, buttocks, arm, hand and torso before he managed to grab it and hold its jaw closed.Brousseau threw the beaver ashore while Scouts helped him out of the water. After being momentarily stunned, the beaver began attacking a pool noodle. At that point, the Scouts stepped in to put down the animal.

a Komodo dragon "sunk its teeth into" an 83-year-old Indonesian woman on Tuesday -- but she was able to fend it off.

This isn't the first time someone has been the victim of a Komodo dragon attack in Indonesia. Two park employees were reportedly attacked by one of the animals last February.
